PROCEDURES FOR OBTAINING DUPLICATE SOCIAL
SECURITY CARDS
FOR I-9 COMPLETION

The following steps are required to obtain a duplicate Social Security card for completion of the I-9:

Duplicate Social Security cards can be obtained at the Social Security Administration, which is located in the Federal Building in downtown Binghamton. The Federal Building is located on the corner of State Street and Henry Street across from the Metro Center.

The Social Security Administration Office is located on the first floor of the Federal Building. The hours are from 9:00a.m. through 4:00p.m., Monday through Friday.

Two forms of identification are necessary. A driver's license and school identification are two examples of the identification necessary to request a duplicate Social Security card.

You will be asked to fill out a form when you make your request. You will be issued a receipt once you have completed the form. This receipt can be used to complete the I-9 until the duplicate card arrives.

You will need to bring your duplicate card to the Payroll Office, AD-244, or the Office of Human Resources, AD-244, when it arrives. It can take from two weeks to 90 days to arrive.

The following Blue Buses should stop at or near the Federal Building:
1. Binghamton
2. Leroy Street/Southside
3. Southside and Main Street

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to call the Offices of Human Resources or Payroll Services at (607) 777-2186 or (607) 777-2122.
