Development: RESPECT – DIVERSITY
– SUCCESS - FOR OUR WORKFORCE
Professional development is an essential effort supported by Binghamton
University's strategic plan. The goal is to develop people to their
full potential, maximize career mobility and provide important tools
and skills for success in the various roles on campus. Each semester,
collaboration among several campus offices and departments produces
a range of offerings which are listed on this portion of the HR
homepage. The effort is coordinated by the university's Professional
Development Committee and the Office of Human Resources.
In
addition, Human Resources offers a consulting service to university
departments and offices focusing on process improvement, training
for staff, strategies for career mobility and a future goal includes
career coaching.
The
programming this fall is proudly presented by the University's Professional
Development Committee, which was formed in 2005 and is composed
of individuals interested in and devoted to professional development.
The committee is chaired by the Human Resources Department and has
a mission to offer a range of professional development activities
for the university community.
Topics
include Supervisory/Management Skills, Wellness, Technology, Retirement
Planning, and General Interest programs such as identify theft,
personal safety, e-mail etiquette and much more. We encourage you
to take advantage of these personal and professional development
opportunities, and to explore the offerings of the campus partners
who have contributed to this program: the Employee Assistance Program,
University Libraries, School of Management, Physical Facilities,
Human Resources, Affirmative Action, UUP, CSEA, the Center for Quality,
University Police, Technology Training Center, and Campus Recreation.
